CoolTherm TC-501 TIM2 thermal grease
Parker Lord · Material properties and interface engineering
- Purpose
- Consider TC-501 when a heat-spreader-to-heat-sink interface needs grease without an additional curing step.
- Technical approach
- Solvent-free silicone grease forms a non-curing TIM2 interface. Material conductivity is not assembled interface resistance.
- Scope of use
- For heat-spreader-to-heat-sink contact; qualify the gap, clamping conditions and cycling behaviour in your assembly.
- Limitations and open questions
These evaluation considerations are compiled by BLNKK from public information. They are not supplier guarantees or a mandatory submission checklist.
Scope and limitationsThe TDS specifies six months at −30°C in unopened syringes and 24 hours of working life at 25°C. Non-curing operation does not remove handling or ageing checks, or establish TIM1/die-attach suitability.
What to prepareBLNKK suggests preparing interface area, gap, load, surfaces and cycling conditions. Plan cold-storage handling and assembly-level thermal-resistance/ageing comparisons.
Confirm with the supplierConfirm the current TDS, syringe orientation, warming/working times and any refreezing policy. Agree on bondline thickness, pump-out tests and resistance acceptance conditions.
- Public evidence
- The TDS documents TIM2 use, non-curing operation and frozen storage. Its thermal data are typical, not guaranteed specifications.
